Green infrastructure and spatial planning: call for ECTP-CEU collaboration with European Commission

27/03/2014

27/03/2014 Per chi fosse interessato segnaliamo questa iniziativa in corso che riguarda la creazione di reti di “Infrastrutture verdi” europee. L' indicazione è di mettersi in contatto con Joris Scheers in Belgio: "Dear delegate, ECTP-CEU was invited by the European Commission to participate in a policy making process on Green infrastructure (GI) in Europe. ECTP-CEU EXCO decided after a first meeting in Brussels to step into this process in cooperation with IFLA-Europe, and set up an internal (email) network of European planners interested in order to fuel the EC GI-policy with issues that are important for spatial planning. As the EC policy develops and produces texts, the ECTP-CEU network can indicate good practices and provide suggestions for policy instruments. The wide implications and benefits of GI are already reflected in the EU’s GI-Communication of May 2013 and within the budget allocations of diverse projects, including Community Cohesion, Water Management and Common Agricultural Policy grants, like:
  • Guidance on incorporating GI in agricultural policy
  • Measures to promote natural systems for water retention
  • Announcement of a new brochure on GI
  • Biodiversity Information System for Europe (BISE) – an IT project
  • Mapping and Assessment of Ecosystems and their Services (MAES)
The Commission is considering establishing a TEN-G (Trans-European Network – Green) following the initiatives of TEN-E (Energy) and TEN-T (Transport). See also: http://ec.europa.eu/environment/nature/ecosystems/index_en.htm All delegates are invited to forward this call to their national organization and look for interested spatial planners to join the ECTP-CEU internal (email)network on GI-policy. Please ask interested planners to send a mail to our Vice-president Joris Scheers who will coordinate this network at joris.scheers@asro.kuleuven.be, no later than April 30th.
